ACPA has Announced their Newest Member of the Board of Directors

Denise GoodmanThe American College of Physician Advisors is pleased to announce Denise Goodman, MD, MS, FCCM, has joined the Board of Directors. 

Dr. Goodman is the Medical Director of Case Management and Care Coordination/Senior Physician Advisor at Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago. She is responsible for second level reviews, denials management/ALJ hearings, physician education, and operations improvement across the organization. 

“As a fellow pediatrician, I am especially thrilled to welcome Dr. Denise Goodman into the ACPA Board of Directors,” said ACPA President Juliet B. Ugarte Hopkins, MD “Just a couple of years ago, she volunteered to chair and establish our Pediatric Committee.  Since that time, she and the Committee have illuminated the distinct challenges and considerations which require attention by hospital leaders involved with pediatric populations.  Dr. Goodman has played a prominent part in promoting the role of pediatric physician advisors and her unique insight and experience will truly be an asset to the Board.” 

Dr. Goodman is a board-certified pediatric intensivist. A graduate of State University of New York at Buffalo School of Medicine, she completed pediatrics residency at Children’s Hospital Medical Center of Cincinnati and critical care fellowship at Pittsburgh Children’s Hospital. She also holds a Masters of Science in Epidemiology from the Harvard School of Public Health. She has been actively involved in medical education, including past program director of the pediatric critical care fellowship program at Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital, director of all fellowships at Lurie Children’s, and national critical care fellowship chair, and stays involved now primarily as a research mentor. She also completed the Morris Fishbein fellowship in medical editing at Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA) and is an Associate Editor at the Journal of Pediatrics.
