ACPA has Announced Their Newest Member of the Board of Directors

Ahmed AbuabdouThe American College of Physician Advisors is pleased to announce Ahmed Abuabdou, MBBS, MBA has joined the Board of Directors and is the newly elected Vice President of Operations with a term set to begin January 2022.

Dr. Abuabdou is the Associate Chief Medical Officer for the University of Arkansas for Medical Science (UAMS) Medical Center and leads its Physician Advisory Program. He serves as Physician Champion for the Clinical Documentation Integrity Program at UAMS Medical Center and is the Editor of the CDI Newsletter of UAMS "Concise is Nice" where CDI documentation tips are shared with faculty members, residents, and fellows.

“Dr. Ahmed Abuabdou has been an integral member of the ACPA’s Clinical Documentation Integrity Committee and I look forward to his tenure as Vice President of Operations,” said ACPA President Juliet B. Ugarte Hopkins, MD “With an MBA and position as Associate Chief Medical Officer, his focus on advancing the scope and mission of the American College of Physician Advisors will surely take our organization to new heights in the coming years.”

Dr. Abuabdou graduated medical school from Gulf Medical University in the United Arab Emirates. He completed internal medicine residency training at St. Elizabeth Health Center, Youngstown, Ohio, and a blood banking / transfusion medicine fellowship at the University of Arkansas for Health Sciences. He holds an academic rank of Associate Professor of Medicine at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences, Little Rock, Arkansas. Ahmed achieved board certification in Healthcare Quality and Management (CHCQM) with subspecialty certification as physician advisor by ABQAURP. He is also a certified clinical documentation specialist (CCDS) by ACDIS.
