Welcome to the American College of Physician Advisors
Dear ACPA Members:
It is with great excitement that I accepted the presidency this week at a meeting of the Board of Directors prior to ACPA’s annual meeting, NPAC 2019. It is an honor to accept the presidency from Eddie Hu, who has been both the face and a driving force behind the scenes of ACPA over the past three years. In just five short years from its founding in 2014, ACPA has grown to an organization of more that 750 active members, with a number of special interest committees ranging from Education to Government Affairs. Without a doubt, NPAC has become the premier conference for Physician Advisors in the country, with NPAC 2019 including over 375 registrants, 15 sponsors, 32 conference faculty and 25 discussion sessions.
This year, the Board of Directors has two main goals: 1) promote ACPA’s educational mission and 2) actively engage membership in ACPA in advancement of the Physician Advisor profession. With respect to the first goal, by the end of 2019 ACPA plans to launch The Learning Center, a series of on-line education modules on a variety of topics critical to Physician Advisors. The modules will be CME accredited and the cost to ACPA members will be minimal. With respect to the second goal, ACPA remains committed to engaging our membership in all aspects of our mission. ACPA is a non-profit organization with all board members and officers volunteering their service. We are always looking for new members who wish to contribute to ACPA and move into leadership positions within the organization. There are multiple ways to get involved. Members can contribute to the monthly ACPA newsletter, submit a blog post on the ACPA website, and/or join a committee. The Board has recently amended the by-laws to allow for members who have made significant contributions to ACPA or the Physician Advisor profession to join the ACPA Advisory Board, providing a pathway to leadership positions within ACPA.
Ultimately, the success of ACPA depends on its membership. ACPA will be what we all make it. And remember, it is not too early to start thinking about NPAC 2020 from April 27-29, 2020 at the Universal Portofino Bay Hotel in Orlando, Florida.
